“Wounding and healing are not opposites. They're part of the same thing. It is our wounds that enable us to be compassionate with the wounds of others. It is our limitations that make us kind to the limitations of other people. It is our loneliness that helps us to to find other people or to even know they're alone with an illness. I think I have served people perfectly with parts of myself I used to be ashamed of. ”

Who am I?
I have a great sense of humor
I am neurodivergent
Hand/eye coordination is not one of my strengths
The mountains are my happy place
I engaged in a lot of pretend play as a child. What I did not realize at the time was that I was naturally working through some really tough feelings and experiences. Expressing myself verbally did not come naturally to me but play did. Eventually I did see a therapist and guess what we did? We talked as if I was a mini adult. Sure I was intelligent enough to understand what was being said to me, but I often wonder what it would have been like if a therapist could have stepped down from their place of authority and related to me like an actual human being who was a child sitting in front of them struggling.
I have always had a well of empathy for others. So when I had to choose a major in college, the natural choice was Psychology. Life took me on many twists and turns before I eventually got my master’s degree and became a therapist. But I am grateful for that time in between undergrad and grad school because I learned a lot about myself and I had to do my own healing work. I have sat on the other side of a therapist and I have done the work that I help clients with now. Having done my own nervous system work and seeing how challenging it can be, allows me to have so much compassion for the clients I work with.
As a neurodivergent person myself, one of my greatest passions is working with neurodivergent children (autism, ADHD, learning differences, gifted, highly sensitive, etc.). These kids have superpowers. I love helping them to embrace those superpowers while also helping them to learn how to navigate the challenges of having a neurodivergent brain.
I feel honored and privileged to be a therapist. My goal with every client is to help them feel seen, heard, and understood. And by the end of our time together I want my clients to feel empowered to go into the world knowing that they are capable of handling life’s challenges and are worthy of good things.
Play and human connection have healing powers. Both are at the core of my therapeutic approach.
